Welcome back to a new school year. . School begins at 8:10, and dismissal is 2:25 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday. Tuesday dismissal is at 1:55. Students must come to school on time and in uniform daily. For the safety of all our students, no one is allowed on the property until 7:50.
Attendance Matters. New regulations under ESSA or Every Student Succeed Act requires students attend school on a regular basis. Schools are penalized and given a failing score for attendance if they have Chronic Absenteeism. This means if a child missed over 10% of the school year. Research shows when students miss only a few days of school a month, they have a harder time learning and staying in grade level with their peers.
In the morning and at dismissal all Kindergarten, first and second grade students are to line up on the right side of the playground (Lawall Street). All students must have a parent supervising them. In the morning and at dismissal, all 3-5 grade students are to line up on the left side of the school (Foster Street Side). They will dismiss from that same door. The teachers will meet them outside each morning and escort them to class. Busses and vans will use Albright Avenue in the AM and PM. Students will wait inside the school on bad weather days.
Pre -School students are to wait with their parents / guardians in the inside foyer of the school.

Please return the emergency forms immediately to the school the next day of school. Alert the office with any changes in phone numbers or contact people. It is critical you alert us with working numbers of people who will be picking up your child.
We will be following a new Common Core Curriculum for English Language Arts, Math, and Science in addition to using Everyday Math in grades K-5. Reading intervention times will continue to address students’ academic levels.
Title 1 Reading is available for students needing reading assistance with parent permission. Please refer to the district’s new web site for updates and our school’s monthly calendar, events, and policies.
You are a critical part of your child’s education and your support is important. Helping review homework, listening to your child read and having them practice math will promote your child’s academic growth.
